Roland was born and raised in Winterthur, Switzerland. He grew up in a Christian home and at age 17, gave his life to the Lord Jesus Christ. He studied Computer Science at the University of Applied Sciences in Winterthur, Switzerland. His desire to experience new things, and explore the world beyond sitting in an office behind a computer, as well as his love for airplanes and boats, led him to PMA. So on March 2005 Roland arrived on Guam and proceeded to Pohnpei for a 10 week short term service, or so he thought. But God had other plans for him. He has since extended his stay in Pohnpei and has no definite plans of leaving. He has found mission work to be full of challenges and has been tasked to do a variety of things from construction work, to videography, to serving with the Sea Haven, assisting our doctors, to working (of course) with the computer - preparing programs and helping the Headquarters, Mission Offices and Good News Press. As the world advances in technology, the mission needs to grow in that area as well. God has indeed been using Roland's talent and training to help the mission press on technically to be more effective and efficient in its ministries. His prayer request is to be used of God, to know God's direction for him and to mature in His knowledge and grace.
