Mission News Update January 2012
Dear Praying Friends and Faithful Partners,
"One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek Him in His temple." Psalm 27:4
As we begin the New Year, what is ONE THING you desire the most? One would think after all what David went through,
he would desire to be safe from harm, from the pursuit of his enemies, or to sit on the throne of Israel as its God's chosen king.
All these were nothing to him. The One desire he had in which he pursued with an undivided heart was to be intimate with God.
All else was not important. May this be our aim, our goal, our desire this year as we grow closer in our walk with Him,
obeying Him as we abide in Him, desiring only to give pleasure to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
GUAM
We thank God for the successful bladder and urinary tract operation of Pastor Ed Kalau in Arizona and his return back
to Guam on New Year's eve. Three months after this operation he would undergo radiation. Please pray for wisdom for the
oncologists' decision whether this procedure would be done in Guam or Arizona. We continue to pray for God's healing touch
to completely heal him from prostate cancer.
PHILIPPINES
"Praise God for the successful medical outreach in Kilogan, spearheaded by Dr. John and his faithful assistant,
Geneziel. It was a timely visit because one patient who for three days was suffering from acute gastroenteritis was getting weak
and could hardly walk. Dr. John treated him with antibiotics. The following day, I visited him at his home, to find him recovered.
Praise God for the opportunity to share the word of God and to invite him to church." Pastor Ed Genotiva, PMF Kilogan.
BAHAY KALINGA, NAUJAN, MINDORO
Four of our children who have been with us for temporary shelter were reunited with their mothers.
We are thankful for the opportunity to serve these children and to be part of their lives. Meanwhile, three of our children were
dedicated to the Lord. It was a happy occasion at BK!
PALAU
We had devotionals after the Saturday clean-up in the evening and fellowshipped with a simple dinner during Christmas and
New Year's Eve. We celebrated with a lunch feast on Christmas and New Year's day right after the service. Our Christmas
Cantata 'The Heart of Christmas - God's Greatest Gift - Our Greatest Choice' was part of our Christmas Worship service.
Praise the Lord for great learning experiences during choir rehearsals as God brought us all together as
one making one choice and that is to glorify God through our singing. Pray that we can continue to sing for Him during our
Sunday worship throughout this year." By: Joy Balayo.
YAP, MICRONESIA
"We are excited to be part of PMA's efforts here in Yap! Here's our Top 10 List of things happening in Yap! 1)
Petrus recently returned refreshed and energized from a pastors' conference on Pohnpei with exciting plans for the outer
island PMF church; 2) I continue to have the opportunity to share from God's Word with High school seniors on Falalop island
each Friday; 3) the airplanes continue to be used to evacuate the sick from the outer islands (yesterday I medivaced two patients
from Ulithi); 4) We are blessed to have Simon Hammerling back for a time while Amos and Heidi Collins are on furlough;
5) Friday nights with the outer island youth from church continues to be a popular event with some recent new faces;
6) the music ministry at church has received much needed reinforcements with the arrival of gifted 19-year-old musician Percy from Pohnpei;
7) we recently enjoyed a visit from Rachel Hammerling after having served in an orphanage in the Philippines on her way back to Germany;
8) I recently gained some fresh insight into how important PMA's airplanes are when I was stranded on Ulithi overnight due to
mechanical difficulties; 9) Yap's Dengue Fever outbreak continues to linger with new cases still being reported;
10) Pastor Kalau recently visited at the request of FSM President Mori and was the keynote speaker at the national Day of Prayer.
Please be in prayer for those in our church who are sick or have lost loved ones from Dengue, as well as for Petrus who was recently
in the hospital and may need to be referred off island, as well as for the various outreach ministries of our PMF church here." By Jon Taylor.
POHNPEI, MICRONESIA
New Years Eve began for our PMF Church in Pohnpei with a pot faith dinner early in the evening
and then from 8:30pm - midnight, men, women, teens and children shared testimonies, communion service, message from Nob,
special songs as families, and hearts of thankfulness for God's amazing blessings and guidance in 2011.
At midnight after we wished each other a Blessed New Year, the teens hit the road for the traditional drive through Pohnpei:
throwing buckets of water and water balloons at other islanders on the road. Pots are used for banging and celebrating and basically
the night into the morning is a lot of clean, wholesome fun. Of course us older folks went to sleep! On the first of
January we joined together again for the worship service at 9am. What a wonderful New Year's Eve weekend celebrating over Saturday
and Sunday giving God the Glory and praise! Sunday afternoon was reserved for the Blessed Nap! From Sylvia Kalau.
We praise and thank God for all your faithful partnership throughout 2011. As you stand behind us in prayer and support,
we acknowledge this as a mandate from you of your desire for PMA to continue to serve and reach the island people for Christ.
Let us pray for one another that we will grow in love, in knowledge, in grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and that our one desire
is to have an intimate relationship with Him - allowing all to see Christ in us, the Hope of glory!
God bless you!
In Him we live and move and have our being,
