Mission News Update February 2007
Dear Praying Friends and Faithful Partners,
"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you
because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful,
I know that full well." Psalm 139: 13, 14
After my recent gall bladder surgery, my doctor provided me with a DVD of the operation.
I wasn’t brave enough to watch it alone, but two of my friends from PMF church, Ruth and Ethel
informed me that they wanted to watch it too. And so we did. We were impressed by the skill of
the surgeon, and the technology utilized to remove the gall bladder. But we were more amazed by
what was inside my body. God indeed has made us so intricately and wonderfully. It is amazing how
He created us... from nothing and by His Word alone. He said, "Let there be..." and so it was! This
was again a great reminder for me that the God who called me to serve Him is a Mighty God and able
to do anything - even the impossible! I can trust Him for the needs of the mission and to accomplish
His work in the islands through PMA so that every island may hear of His great love and salvation.
Please pray for the island people that they would desire to know Him, understand the Gospel and be
compelled to believe in Him and live for Him.
GUAM
We thank God for answering our prayers concerning Esther Goral, a young
lady from Germany, daughter of one of our PMA Deutschland Board members. We have prayed that
she may be able to come to Guam and serve with us at the PMF church. She has been a great addition
to the core group with her musical talent and genuine love for children. Her sweet and gentle
spirit has been a great blessing to all of us. Pray that we may be a blessing to her as she is to
us and that her time with us and host family: Jeff and Jane Jones will truly be one of
spiritual growth and great learning experience.
PHILIPPINES
We thank God for two medical outreaches during the month of January in the
islands of Calutcot and Katakian. The team from Orchard Hill Church, Iowa was composed of
Dennis Pruckler (Nurse Practitioner), with RN Amy and husband Al Venenga and
China missionary, Rose Marie, volunteering with us during her break. PMA Dr. John Escote
and mechanic trainee, Cesar Cabrera also accompanied the team. Of course, OIC/Pilot Malcolm Cleope
flew them to Jomalig Island and from there; the team took an outrigger canoe first to Calutcot, then
after four days, to Katakian. The team was able to diagnose and treat 268 patients and dispensed free medicines,
antibiotics, ointments and vitamins. Malcolm observed that Dr. John gave individual, undivided attention to
each patient which gave them a sense of really being cared for. Pastors Ed and Matt lovingly
shared the word of God to waiting patients in Calutcot, while Pastor Jorie did the same thing in Katakian.
Summarizing the two weeks, Malcolm shares that it was very fruitful and God blessed.
BAHAY KALINGA ORPHANAGE, MINDORO
We are filled with joy from the Lord ever since we heard that
one of our "boys" may soon be adopted. Why are we so happy? Because he is the only one left behind
from his group who are now in new homes and some, reunited with relatives. Please pray that the Lord will
indeed take care of all the paper work and that he will soon be in a home where he can finally settle in
and call his own.
PALAU
We thank God for how He has used the Saturday, Achiever’s Club - an outreach to children
up to 12 years old to open doors for parents and families of the attending children to come and visit the PMF
church and attend services. Indeed, these little ones have been instrumental in touching the lives of their
loved ones, and we pray that God will continue to bless them and that their families may join them in their
worship at PMF.
YAP, MICRONESIA
We were blessed by the visit of Augustin here on Guam. A member of our
PMF church in Yap, he brought us news of what the Lord is doing in their midst. He praises God for continuing
to bless them through the ministry of Pastor John, who is discipling him and his wife. He praises God
for many outer-islanders now attending their services and opening their hearts to Jesus. He asks for prayer
for Petrus and Queentina who continue to have a desire to share the word of God in their home
island, and have done so, despite persecution. He was also very happy to be with his daughter Jamie
who attends and is actively serving in our PMF church on Guam and currently studying at Pacific Island
Bible College.
POHNPEI, MICRONESIA
Last month we asked you to pray for Pia Kaufmann, as she works with
the youth and children at the PMF church. She praises God for answers to prayers - for a break through among
the youth in terms of better communication and relationship. Praise God, too for the discipleship class with
girls and one youth in particular, who she meets everyday for prayer. Pray that she would be able to get the
youth excited about Jesus, spending time in His Word and prayer. Pray too that she may not grow weary in
well-doing.
How we thank God for His enabling day by day to serve Him and share the wonderful news of salvation
to the peoples in the islands of Micronesia and the Philippines. We praise God for the many ways that He has
allowed us to do this through our Aviation services, medical ship - M/V Sea Haven ministry, Orphanage, Island
Learning Centers and Youth Dormitories, and offering livelihood projects - all providing avenues to show love
in action and to draw people to the Lord. We thank God for the Pacific Mission Fellowship churches planted in
several islands - for being a light and most of the time the only light on some remote islands. Thank you
dear Partners, indeed you are a great part of all that we do. Thank you for continuing to be a channel of
His grace and blessings. Thank you for your faithfulness. We thank God for you. To Him be glory now and
forever!
Serving Him together,
