Mission News Update April 2007
Dear Praying Friends and Faithful Partners,
"He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not
with Him also freely give us all things?" Romans 8:32
What a great statement from Paul, the apostle. And what great and encouraging words
these are from God! Praise the Lord for a God who loves us so dearly and unconditionally
that He did not withhold His most precious, one and only Son so that we who are dead in
sin may be made alive through Jesus Christ! And He did not stop at salvation
either - through Jesus Christ - He has given us the power to live this life abundantly.
Peter said this clearly in 2 Peter 1:3, "As His divine power has given us all things
that pertain to life and godliness, through Him who called us by glory and virtue."
What a wonderful God we have! What a great message He has entrusted to all of us who
believe! Pray for us as we serve in the islands that we may live in such a manner
that His Word may be made alive in our lives as we live and minister among the island
peoples. That we would share His life-giving message with integrity, boldness and grace.
GUAM
We thank and praise God for bringing Pastor Edmund Kalau safely back from
his Germany trip. We are thankful for how the Lord used him to bless our PMA
friends, partners and the PMA German Board as well. The Lord also gave him the
opportunity to speak to 130 Bible school Alumni and he challenged them to live
their lives for Jesus and to serve Him with all their hearts. We are truly blessed
by his never-fading excitement and passion for the Lord.
PHILIPPINES
Ashley, a Missionary Kid joined her schoolmate, Laura Cleope (daughter
of OIC, Malcolm Cleope) in a medical outreach. Here is her testimony: "This weekend, I was
privileged to go on a medical mission with PMA. It was such a joy to see all the children
run up to PMA’s aircraft as soon as we landed in the island of Katakian. Right away we went
to work, unpacking all the medicines and setting up for the clinic. There was so much
excitement as people gathered around in order to have free medical help. I talked to
them in my broken "Tagalog" (language spoken here), which elicited laughs from everyone.
It was so much fun making them laugh, comforting them and showing them the love of Jesus.
I was even able to play soccer/tag with the children and practice my colors. And then we
had a worship service - and can they worship the Lord! They did not have any fancy sound
system or equipment - but what I experienced were a people worshiping God with all their
hearts! I learned so much this weekend, and I really would like to become a nurse so
I can come back and help these people. I thank God for PMA for the support and help
they give to the island people."
BAHAY KALINGA ORPHANAGE
It was with great excitement that Angie Dioquino, our Social
Worker, shared with me that a family has started the paperwork to adopt our special
needs child. He came to us as a baby - and now he is five years old. It is difficult
to find a family willing to adopt a child like him, so this is God’s miracle. Pray
that all the roadblocks to his adoption would disappear.
PALAU
Recently, one member of the PMF church core group left Palau as his work contract
ended. He is now in another country for another job and had this to share to Pastor Bambit
Balayo. "I am so thankful for the training and disciplines you had engrained in us as a
core group. I now see how important it was in my growth as a believer. Being new here,
I long for our warm fellowship and the way you had brought us up to be loving and welcoming
to those who are new to the fellowship. Thank you Pastor and pray for me that I will
be steadfast in my faith and that I may find a place to serve Him in the church where
I worship."
YAP, MICRONESIA
It is with great joy to let you know that after two years and two months,
the Davis Family (Vince and Molly, children: Andrew, Tori, Corban
and Jack) are finally in the island of Yap to begin their first term as missionaries. We thank God that he enabled
the Davis family to stay focused and committed to the call to serve Him through PMA. We
also praise God for all their partners and supporters who have perseveringly prayed and
provided for their support needs. Please pray as they settle in a new home, get to know
a new culture and for Vince’s flight training with Peter Reichert. Pray that the Lord
will show them areas of ministry needs as well and for the enablement to serve Him with
all their hearts.
POHNPEI, MICRONESIA
Sylvia Kalau shares: "We are practicing daily for our Easter
production entitled: "I know... that I know... that I know...". What a blessing to our week
to receive 22 volunteers from Kwajalein who graced us with a work team during Easter
break. The group of sponsors and youth painted 2 houses at our Youth Center and sanded
and painted all our Sunday school tables. Our youth group bonded and enjoyed the new
friendships made with the 10 young people who came. This mission team was truly a team
with a mission at heart. They lightened our load of an extremely busy Easter preparation
week as they served with us. What a great encouragement and blessing they have been to
all of us. Just in case you are wondering what "I know... that I know... that I know..." is
all about - that Only the Lord Jesus Christ is God and He is Risen indeed!"
Praise God, we serve a Risen Savior! And as the old hymn goes, "I know that He is
living, whatever man may say. I see His hand of mercy; I hear His voice of cheer.
And just the time I need Him, He’s always near. He Lives - Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and talks with me along life’s narrow way. He lives, salvation to impart.
You ask me how I know He lives - He lives within my heart!" Thank you dear
partners for standing with us so we can impart this wonderful message! God bless you!
In Him we move and have our being,
Melinda R. Espinosa
