Mission News Update November 2008
Dear Praying Friends and Faithful Partners,
"Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!
O fear the LORD, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him. The lions lack and suffer hunger;
But those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing." Psalm 34: 8-10
I look back to the time when a decision was made to trust the Lord concerning the dry docking of M/V Sea Haven
- we did not have the funds to embark on this Project, but we had the word of God who assured us that He will provide.
The Sea Haven left Pohnpei, its home port on October 7 with a five-man crew: Nob Kalau, Boat Captain, Tobias Stork (German volunteer),
Engineer, and Crew: Edwin Romolow, Theodore Fred and Etinimei Herbert. On its way to Guam, the Sea Haven was able to deliver
books and educational materials, as well as medicines and medical supplies to eleven (11) Chuuk outer-islands.
Theodore informed me that it was a joy to see all the people so happy as they welcomed them in all the islands
especially as they received the valuable books and medical supplies. Meanwhile, on Guam - we were faced with many
requirements due to regulations on Border Patrol and homeland security. But God once again intervened.
He used people from the various Government and Federal agencies to assist Melinda in ensuring that we
had all the proper documentation and followed correct procedures so that the Sea Haven would be able to
get into Guam legally and without any trouble. On October 20, the Sea Haven arrived safely on Guam.
The Harbor Master personally welcomed the crew to Guam with a warm "Hafa Adai" greeting.
After clearing Customs and Immigration, the ship then sailed toward the U.S.
Navy Facility where Guam Ship Yard is located. A day after its arrival, the Sea Haven was lifted to be on dry dock and work commenced.
Our Crew has been working daily with the Guam Ship Yard personnel. It is hard work under extreme heat,
but they know that this is God's vessel and they have the great opportunity of preparing it for further
ministry through the islands. Do we now have enough funds to complete the dry dock? Not yet - but this
is God's project and He will see this to completion. He never fails!
GUAM
The PMF church once again hosted a Teaching Seminar for our Ponapean brethren
from several churches here on island. "The Incomparable Christ" was taught by Rev. Max Vague.
Praise God for those trained in the Word of God - to be equipped for ministry. We are thankful that we
can be partners in this endeavor and for the pastors and church leaders that participated. Pray that what
they have learned will ground them in the Word of God and enable them to teach and preach the incomparable
greatness of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
PHILIPPINES
We praise God for the safe arrival of the donated Aircraft PA-30 from the U.S.
All the paper work was ready in time to receive the aircraft. We are truly thankful that we now have an
additional aircraft that can help support our mission efforts.
BAHAY KALINGA ORPHANAGE
We accepted a young toddler who has a cleft palate.
We are thankful that she has been scheduled for an operation middle of this month.
Please pray for the success of the operation. Meanwhile, we have a verbal commitment from a Judge to
sign Aileen's papers so that her adoption can be processed. Please pray that this would be a reality.
PALAU
We said "Till we Meet Again" - and not good-bye to Ruth Fulguerinas,
who has served PMA faithfully for the past year in PMF Palau and three years in PMF Guam .
We are sad that she has to go, but we know that as she pursues her dream to be a Social Worker,
it will better equip her for future ministry wherever the Lord will send her.
And it is our prayer that He will lead her to PMA once again. Pray for her as she pursues her dream and serves in her local church.
For the Lord's provision and guidance.
YAP, MICRONESIA
"It was so good to see all the guys (about 8 of them) at
Prison today," shared Simon Hämmerling. "We had good fellowship and I was so happy
that everyone seemed to listen to the Word of God." Simon just got back from Germany after
a short visit there to attend his best friend's wedding. He shared that it was good to be with his
family and friends once again. On his way back to Yap, he stayed on Guam for a few days. Each day was
filled with work jobs around the PMA Haus which he was so willing to do. He also was a great help to
Melinda as she takes care of the Sea Haven crew. We are thankful for his servant heart. One pleasant
surprise he had was to be with friend and supporter, Tobias Stork, who came with the Sea Haven.
Praise God for a blessed time of fellowship.
POHNPEI, MICRONESIA
Pia Kaufmann's desire is for the youth and children at PMF Pohnpei to have the discipline
of daily quiet time with the Lord. She has been encouraging the Youth by providing them a weekly questionnaire that goes
along with RBC's The Daily Bread. At the moment, only a few from the Youth Fellowship are actively participating in this
discipline. Please pray that many of them will realize the importance to be in God's Word and to be directed by Him.
She is now planning to start with younger Sunday school children so that at an early age, they will have the habit of
reading God's Word. Please pray that the Holy Spirit would convict each one to have a hunger and desire to read and obey the Word of God.
We are so very thankful that we can taste and see God's goodness in the land of the living. As we trust in Him,
He has allowed us to experience His provision and indeed we have not lacked any good thing. Thank you dear Partners,
your prayers and support have been one of the "Good Things" that the Lord has given to us. May He especially bless
you and continue to use you as His Channels.
In Him we live and move and have our being,
Melinda R. Espinosa
