Mission News Update December 2006
Dear Praying Friends and Faithful Partners,
GUAM
We praise God for the Thanksgiving Service and celebration on the eve
of Thanksgiving day. The theme for the occasion was "Forever Grateful". And indeed
our church family consisting of members from the islands of Yap, Palau, Pohnpei,
Kosrae, Chuuk, Philippines and even from U.S. and Germany were one in praise and
thanksgiving to our God who has been so good and faithful to all of us. It was a
great time to remember God’s unfailing love and care, and most especially, we are
forever grateful that He did not wait for us to seek Him, but He sent His Son to
seek and to save us!
PHILIPPINES
"Praise God for Pastor Jorie and Adarna, for their steadfast
attitude and willingness to be in front line ministry in Katakian, Polilio
islands," shares Malcolm Cleope. "We also want to thank God that many attended
the SEATS (South East Asia Theological Seminary) seminar hosted by PMF Katakian.
Mike Fast, one of the teachers said that our island people are more receptive
than his students in Manila. Indeed, we are so thankful that our pastors, leaders
and members of our PMF churches are committed in learning God’s word and to apply
them in their lives. Pray for continued spiritual growth of our churches in the
islands - that they will impact the islands for Christ."
BAHAY KALINGA ORPHANAGE
"It is encouraging to see our nurse, Sally Jane
conducting in-service training on care giving to our 24 hour
staff," writes Mary Cleope. "Sally Jane shared that the staff eagerly
participated in discussions, shared their experiences, and asked questions.
She noticed right away that they were knowledgeable enough to handle and care for
the children properly. Please pray for our Care-givers that they would always give
their best to the children. Pray also for their own families."
PALAU
Pastor Bambit Balayo joyfully shared how encouraging it was for him
to see three men in his congregation stand out in their Christian walk with the Lord.
Their spiritual growth, humility and teachableness has encouraged and blessed him.
Continue to pray for these men, as they themselves disciple and train others to be
men of integrity, faithful and committed in serving the Lord, by serving others.
YAP, MICRONESIA
We thank God for the great news that the Davis Family will
soon be departing for Yap on their first term as missionaries. As they face this
new chapter in their life, pray for God’s provision for all their needs, and the
preparation for the whole family for a new way of life, culture and place. We are
looking at the first quarter of 2007 for the move. Pray that all details will fall
into place.
POHNPEI, MICRONESIA
Sylvia Kalau writes: "The month of December means
practice every night for the annual Christmas program. Each year we have the
privilege of creating a program that speaks to the culture of the people of
Micronesia. This year, the story centers on "Grace". In fact the story is
appropriately titled: "A Place Called Grace". The story begins in Bethlehem
where grace began, and moves on to a modern day Micronesian prodigal son.
The central thread, throughout the drama and musical is God’s provision through
His birth, death and resurrection, of Him being the God of grace. Nob Kalau produces
and directs all of the activity. Pray that all details will come together and that
the Holy Spirit will provide creativity, inspiration and blessing for a powerful
message and life-changing challenge this Christmas. Pray that the God of Grace will
be central in all our celebration in this wonderful holiday month."
We pray for you dear partners, that indeed this Christmas will be one that is meaningful
and blessed, knowing that He, Jesus, the Christ, is the Reason for this Season. May you
be given opportunities to share the Good News of Salvation because Christmas is all about
His Good News of love, grace and reconciliation! God bless you and thank you for your
faithful partnership!
Together serving Him,
Melinda R. Espinosa
