Mission News Update April 2010

Dear Praying Friends and Faithful Partners,

"Take, eat: this is My body which is broken for you: do this in remembrance of Me... This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me." 1 Cor. 11:24-25

This year Resurrection Day falls on the first Sunday of the month and so it is doubly significant for us in Guam as the PMF church celebrates its Communion Sunday as well. What better way to remember our Lord's life, death and resurrection than during this day. It is a day to look back on what God has done for us through Jesus Christ, and a day to look forward to His return. When Jesus said these words, He was celebrating the Passover with his disciples. Remembering the slavery of the Jewish nation in Egypt and remembering God's mighty deliverance. As believers, we too celebrate a Passover - celebrating God's wonderful plan of redemption through His Son Jesus Christ who rescued and delivered us out of the darkness and bondage of sin and transferred us into the brilliant kingdom of His Life and Light. As we serve in the islands, please pray for us to be people whose lives show the Living Christ - constantly aware of what Christ has done for us and at the same time - enabling people around us to REMEMBER who He is, what He has done and what He can do in one's life, if they but surrender their lives to Him and believe.

GUAM
We had Sabine Musselwhite of PMA Germany visit us in Guam. Before that, she was in our Pohnpei station for five weeks. From Guam, she went on to visit our stations in Palau and Yap. She was in a fact finding mission, organizing for a team scheduled to visit our Micronesia mission stations next year. During her time here in Guam she assisted in various office work and was a great help in allowing Melinda to attend to mission business in the Philippines and to take some time off to visit her family. In each station Sabine spent time with our missionaries and volunteers, getting to know them, and PMA - the culture of various islands where we serve - providing feedback and insight for us in PMA - as we pursue to be excellent in who we are and what we do as a mission.

PHILIPPINES
Ethel Laco, Mission Volunteer recently got back from her trip to Patnanungan Island as special Guest Speaker for our 6th Graduation and Recognition Day for our PMF Learning Center. "It has been a year since I conducted Sunday school teachers' training at the PMF church. What an encouragement to see many new faces and those who I know sharing what God has been doing in their lives. The church has grown spiritually and numerically. The youth and children have also grown in number and I was privileged to share with the Youth about their "Identity in Christ". The highlight of the trip was of course the graduation for preparatory children and 12 students were recognized for a job well done. "Stewardship - Handling God's Blessings" was the theme for the graduation, and was able to challenge the parents to surrender their lives to Him. (Matt.6:33)" Pray for the students and parents that they will give their lives to Jesus and for Teachers Mercy, Amor and Delita to be faithful in the Lord's vineyard.

BAHAY KALINGA ORPHANAGE
Estela Sacyaben reports: "Praise God that Louie is responding well to the medication prescribed to him. The doctors say that there is no indication of him having Hirschsprung's disease, as previously diagnosed. This means, he does not need any surgery. Continue to pray for the improvement of Louie's health - from the day he came to us, till now, his health has been a continued challenge. Pray for complete healing."

PALAU
"We mourned the passing away of our Palauan brother, Benhart. He had a stroke and was bedridden for a while, got better and was able to sit on a wheelchair. We often visited him at his home in Meyuns and he always expressed his gratefulness for the visit, especially as we sang songs for him. In each visit, he encouraged us to make good use of the gifts God blessed us with. An admonition we have taken to heart. We will always remember his courage and love. Praise God He is with the Lord and is completely healed!" - Rea Joy Lumawan

YAP, MICRONESIA
Occasionally people walk into the hangar looking around with curiosity. They see engine cowlings and other parts of the airplanes removed. A frequent comment is, "Oh is there something wrong with the plane?" Our local friends are not given to maintaining things. A car which stops running by the roadside often finds its final resting place right there. Others through marvelous improvisation limp back to town. In our flight operation maintenance is equivalent to safety. For each hour of flying, countless hours are spent on maintenance, and just because the cowlings are removed, this does not mean that a certain component is being maintained. By visual inspection and by double and triple checking each others work, we are constantly looking for the weakest link in the chain. Colossians 3:17 says it clearly for us: "and whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it in the Name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him." - Peter Reichert

POHNPEI, MICRONESIA
The Cross Radio continues to be a great encouragement to all who listen. Sylvia Kalau continues to receive calls requesting for aired messages that have touched listeners' hearts. Continue to pray for listeners to respond to the radio programs that will lead them to a personal relationship with Christ. We continue to wait for the engineer who will assist us in addressing the problem with the Short wave radio transmitters. Pray that his schedule will allow him to visit Pohnpei soon.

This month, as we remember the passion of Jesus - let our passion for Him be rekindled and ignited. There is a lost and dying world out there that needs a Savior and desperately need His love and forgiveness. We need to share this message. Thank you dear Partners for your faithful partnership - your prayers and support has enabled us to be shining lights for Jesus in the islands where we serve!

God bless you!

In Him we live and move and have our being,
